That was one of the poorest I’ve ever seen him’: Jamie Carragher urges Florian Wirtz to be dropped by Liverpool after Bournemouth win .

Jamie Carragher has called for Florian Wirtz to be dropped from Liverpool’s starting XI after describing the midfielder’s display against Bournemouth as one of his poorest performances since joining the club.

Wirtz struggled to make an impact as Liverpool secured a narrow 1-0 Premier League victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, September 20.

Speaking on his podcast, Carragher criticised the German midfielder’s performance and questioned whether his current struggles are simply a temporary dip in form.

Carragher said Wirtz would not make his Liverpool XI for their upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City, urging manager Andoni Iraola to consider leaving him out.

The former Liverpool defender also compared Wirtz’s current output with that of Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, pointing out that the latter has contributed goals despite being viewed as a less expensive player.

Carragher believes Wirtz needs to start producing more consistently, particularly given the significant transfer fee Liverpool paid for him.

He added that the upcoming international break gives Wirtz time to reflect, but insisted that Liverpool cannot afford to keep waiting for him to find his best form.

Carragher’s comments have sparked debate among Liverpool supporters, with some defending Wirtz and others agreeing that the midfielder needs to improve his performances and end product.
