Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their interest in Chelsea winger Estevao Willian, with the club having made contact with the Brazilian youngster’s representatives.
According to the report, Liverpool are exploring whether Estevao could be persuaded to delay or reject improved contract terms from Chelsea. Liverpool have also reportedly sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old as they assess potential attacking additions.
Estevao impressed during his first season in England, registering 8 goals and 4 assists in 36 appearances for Chelsea. However, his involvement has reportedly dropped this season, with reports claiming he has started just once in Chelsea’s first five competitive matches.
Chelsea, however, are not currently looking to sell. Estevao is already under contract until 2033, and the club reportedly wants to improve his financial terms while reaffirming his importance to their long-term plans. Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Chelsea have no intention of selling him.
The potential price makes the situation even more difficult for Liverpool. Reports put Chelsea’s valuation at approximately €110m–€120m (£95m–£104m).
For Liverpool, the reported contact appears to be an exploratory move rather than an indication that a transfer is close. The Reds are essentially keeping communication open in case Estevao’s situation at Chelsea changes.
Bottom line: Liverpool are reportedly interested and have contacted Estevao’s representatives, but there is no agreement or imminent transfer. Chelsea currently consider the Brazilian an important part of their future.
