He’s Ready to Join: Tottenham Set to Launch Bid for ‘World-Class’ Winger Seen as an Upgrade on Savinho

Tottenham Hotspur have already made six signings during an impressive summer transfer window, but the club’s business is far from complete.

Spurs began by strengthening their defence with the free arrivals of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi before adding Jan Paul van Hecke and Martin Dubravka as Roberto De Zerbi continued his squad rebuild.

The North London side then turned heads by beating several Premier League rivals to the signings of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, with West Ham United and Newcastle United receiving a combined fee of around £185 million.

Despite the influx of new players, Tottenham are also expected to oversee a number of departures after back-to-back 17th-place finishes. Cristian Romero, Luka Vuskovic, Richarlison and Djed Spence are among those who could leave this summer.

Attention has now shifted towards reinforcing the attack, especially after Randal Kolo Muani returned to Paris Saint-Germain following an underwhelming loan spell. Spurs are keen to add both a striker and a winger, with strengthening the left flank emerging as a priority.

One player firmly on Tottenham’s radar is AC Milan star Rafael Leao. The Portugal international has openly expressed his desire to seek a new challenge after spending seven years at San Siro. Although clubs from Saudi Arabia are interested, Leao’s preference is believed to be a move to the Premier League.

Journalist Daniele Longo reports that the 26-year-old is prepared to wait for Tottenham and is willing to reunite with De Zerbi if the club submits an offer.

Leao is viewed as a stronger option than Manchester City winger Savinho. Although Savinho has shown flashes of quality, he struggled for regular starts last season, registering four goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

While the Brazilian remains a promising talent, Leao offers greater experience and proven quality, having performed consistently in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.

Known for his blistering pace, dribbling ability and direct style, the Portuguese forward fits De Zerbi’s desire to inject more speed into Tottenham’s attack. Despite a slight dip in consistency over the past two seasons, Leao is still widely regarded as one of Europe’s top wide players and could represent a major upgrade if Spurs succeed in bringing the “world-class” winger to North London.
