The Florida Gators extended an offer to Greensboro (GA) Greene County four-star defensive lineman Kevin Wynn this past year, but had not gotten him on campus until he made the drive down on Thursday. Wynn entered the day with little expectation or knowledge of what he would see, and the Gators staff made sure to give him the full view of things they have to offer around campus.
“Basically they had a whole schedule of things for me to do since this was my first time down there,” Wynn said. “They showed me around their campus, showed me where the study hall and education building is, training room, weight room. Basically gave me a whole tour of their campus, facility, locker room and stuff. Everything looked very new and great. Everyone was really nice there.”
Though they are not talked about much in his recruitment, the Florida Gators have long been high on Elba (AL) four-star running back Alvin Henderson. He’s been someone the Florida staff has had their eye on for quite some time after extending an offer last June. The staff in Gainesville has been working to get Henderson to campus this year, and their efforts finally paid off, as he was on campus for his first ever visit on Thursday.
Teams like Auburn, Florida State, Miami, and Penn State are the ones predominately mentioned in his process, and he’s mentioned a commitment could be in the near future. With really nothing to lose here, Florida tried to make an impression with their visit, and coming out of it, things seemed to have gone well.
The deadline to enter the college basketball transfer portal is less than four weeks away. There are 1,388 players in the transfer portal as of Thursday, and that number will undoubtedly grow. After Thursday’s NIT Championship game between Indiana State and Seton Hall, the four teams in the Final Four (NC State, UConn, Purdue and Alabama) will be the lone teams alive.
Everyone else is fully locked in on the transfer portal.
“When the season is over, it gets amped up even more,” Illinois coach Brad Underwood said. “I mean, there’s no downtime. It is crank it up. Our staff is working hard at that. We’re paying attention daily to what’s going on in the portal, and if you’re not, you’re probably falling behind.”
