Dele Alli Takes a Dig at John Terry After Tottenham’s Stamford Bridge Victory
Dele Alli couldn’t resist teasing Chelsea legend John Terry after Tottenham secured a memorable 2-0 victory over their London rivals at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Tottenham delivered an impressive performance to claim all three points, with an unfortunate own goal from Mike Penders on his full Premier League debut putting Spurs ahead before Mathys Tel produced a brilliant individual finish late in the game to seal the win.
Chelsea’s afternoon became even more frustrating when Cole Palmer received a red card between the two goals. The midfielder picked up two quick bookings, first following a confrontation with Mateus Fernandes before a poor challenge on Conor Gallagher.
The result marked a significant moment for Tottenham, who had managed just one league victory at Stamford Bridge in the previous 36 years. Consecutive Premier League wins have now provided fresh momentum for Spurs, lifting them to 12th in the table and their highest league position since New Year’s Day.
However, the celebrations weren’t limited to the current Tottenham squad. Former Spurs midfielder Dele Alli was also enjoying the occasion from the stands, where he watched the match alongside Terry, Chelsea’s former long-serving captain.
Dele kept supporters entertained with a series of Instagram Stories throughout the evening. In one video, he could be seen laughing before turning the camera towards Terry, who appeared disappointed as Penders’ unfortunate own goal gave Tottenham the lead.
The former England international also captured the scoreboard and Tottenham’s celebrations before taking another playful swipe at Terry. Sharing a picture of the apparently empty seat beside him, Dele wrote, “Empty seat here now?” while tagging the former Chelsea defender in his posts.
He later rounded off his social media updates with a celebratory photograph alongside another former Tottenham midfielder, Jermaine Jenas.
Dele spent seven years at Tottenham after joining from MK Dons as an 18-year-old in 2015 for a reported £5 million. During his time in north London, he scored 67 goals and registered 59 assists in 269 appearances across all competitions.
Since leaving Spurs, the midfielder has represented Everton, Besiktas and Como. He also earned 37 senior caps for England between 2015 and 2019, featuring prominently at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
