Tottenham to Leave UK Immediately After Man Utd Clash Following De Zerbi’s Request
Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly arranged a surprise trip to Spain for his players immediately after their Premier League clash against Manchester United as he looks to turn the club’s disappointing start to the season around.
Spurs have endured a difficult beginning to the 2026/27 campaign, collecting just two points from their opening five league matches. With three defeats and two draws, the North London club currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Despite investing more than £250 million in new players during the summer transfer window, Tottenham have struggled to deliver the results expected of them, leaving De Zerbi under pressure to improve the team’s performances.
According to reports, the Italian manager wants to use an upcoming break in the fixture schedule to organise a team-bonding trip to Marbella, Spain.
De Zerbi Plans Spain Trip to Revive Tottenham’s Season
Tottenham are expected to travel to southern Spain following their meeting with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The trip is intended to help the squad build stronger relationships, improve team spirit and give their new signings more time to adapt to their teammates.
Spurs have made several additions to their squad this summer, including Savio, Mykhailo Mudryk, Omar Marmoush and Tosin Adarabioyo.
However, several of these players arrived towards the end of the transfer window, leaving limited time for them to settle into the team and understand De Zerbi’s playing style.
The demanding fixture schedule and recent international break have also made it difficult for the manager to work consistently with his entire squad.
With nine days separating the Manchester United game from Tottenham’s next match against Coventry City on October 19, De Zerbi reportedly believes the trip presents an ideal opportunity to improve team chemistry and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Why Tottenham’s Training Camp Is Unusual

Mid-season training camps abroad are not particularly common for Premier League clubs at this stage of the campaign.
Teams typically arrange warm-weather training trips during the winter months, when colder conditions in England can make outdoor training more challenging.
However, Marbella is expected to offer temperatures of around 25°C, providing Tottenham with favourable conditions to train.
The weather forecast for the club’s Enfield training base in England is also expected to be rainy during the coming week, making the Spanish destination an attractive alternative.
Given the number of new arrivals at Tottenham, the training camp could effectively serve as another pre-season period, allowing De Zerbi to work on tactics, fitness and squad understanding.
Tottenham Desperate to Turn Things Around
The club’s poor start has increased the pressure on De Zerbi, particularly after a summer in which Tottenham invested heavily in strengthening their squad.
The manager will be hoping the proposed trip helps his players develop a stronger understanding on the pitch and begin producing more consistent performances.
However, questions have also been raised about whether the Italian can successfully reverse Tottenham’s fortunes.
Speaking on talkSPORT, pundit Ade Oladipo expressed doubts about De Zerbi’s temperament, describing the manager as someone who can appear volatile and angry when results do not go his way.
Oladipo also questioned whether the situation at Tottenham could deteriorate further if the team continues to struggle.
Former QPR and Southampton striker Charlie Austin also raised concerns about De Zerbi’s ability to change the club’s current direction, questioning what in the manager’s previous record suggested he could turn the situation around.
For now, De Zerbi’s priority will be finding a way to get Tottenham winning again.
The planned Marbella trip could provide the squad with valuable time together, but the manager will ultimately be judged on whether his players can translate that preparation into better results on the pitch.
