Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has suggested that Bayern Munich could eventually become a tempting destination for Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha, although he believes the 18-year-old should first establish himself at Anfield.
Ngumoha has attracted attention from major European clubs, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal reportedly monitoring his development. Heskey believes Bayern’s appeal could be particularly strong because of the success of English players who have moved to Germany, including Harry Kane and Michael Olise at Bayern and Jude and Jobe Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund.
However, Heskey does not expect Ngumoha to leave Liverpool immediately. His view is that the youngster should first secure a regular place and prove himself with Liverpool before considering a move elsewhere. Ngumoha is reportedly contracted to Liverpool until 2028.
Heskey also praised Ngumoha’s ability, particularly his dribbling, but said the youngster needs to improve his goals, assists and overall contribution in the final third.
Ngumoha has already made significant history at Liverpool. The club says he became its youngest-ever goalscorer when he scored against Newcastle United in August 2025, aged 16 years and 361 days. He has also progressed into senior international football with England.
So, the story is not that Ngumoha is moving to Bayern Munich now. It is about Heskey acknowledging the potential attraction of Bayern while stressing that Ngumoha’s immediate priority should be establishing himself at Liverpool.
