Bentancur and Son Reunite as Former Tottenham Teammates Share Special Moment

🚨 Bentancur and Son reunite as Uruguay beat South Korea

Former Tottenham teammates Rodrigo Bentancur and Heung-min Son shared an emotional reunion in Seoul as Uruguay defeated South Korea 4–1 in an international friendly on Monday.

Bentancur captained Uruguay and played the full match, while Son wore the armband for South Korea. The two former Spurs teammates exchanged warm hugs before and after the game, giving Tottenham fans a special moment to enjoy.

Before the match, Bentancur spoke positively about seeing Son again. He said it would be a pleasure to face his former teammate and acknowledged the quality and danger Son possesses.

Bentancur even joked that he would do everything possible to prevent Son from scoring. Unfortunately for the Uruguayan midfielder, that plan did not quite work.

Uruguay raced into a 3–0 lead before half-time, with Darwin Núñez opening the scoring, Giorgian de Arrascaeta adding a second and Kim Min-jae turning the ball into his own net. Núñez then scored again early in the second half to make it 4–0.

Son eventually gave the home supporters something to celebrate in the 80th minute, finishing from Lee Kang-in’s cross to make it 4–1. The goal was particularly significant because it took Son to 58 international goals, level with Cha Bum-kun for the most goals scored by a South Korean men’s player.

Despite the heavy defeat, Son’s goal added another memorable chapter to his international career.

For Bentancur, the match was also special because he received a warm welcome from Tottenham supporters in South Korea. He previously visited the country with Uruguay and Tottenham and thanked the Spurs fans who continued to show him support.

The result belonged to Uruguay, but the reunion between Bentancur and Son was arguably the moment Tottenham supporters will remember most.
