Tottenham have narrowly avoided relegation for a second straight season, prompting urgent action to fix long-standing issues in squad quality, depth, and recruitment strategy. Early moves suggest a more aggressive summer approach, with Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson already arriving, and more signings expected soon as the club backs Roberto De Zerbi’s rebuild plans.
According to talkSPORT, Spurs are now monitoring Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley, who could be available this summer after struggling for regular minutes under Fabian Hurzeler. Brighton are open to selling the Denmark international for around £25m after an underwhelming spell on the south coast, where he registered just five goal contributions in 27 league games.
De Zerbi is believed to be a long-time admirer of O’Riley, having previously pushed for his move to Marseille, and values his versatility across midfield roles. However, Tottenham face strong competition, with Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund currently considered more advanced in the race.
O’Riley’s overall numbers reflect a mixed campaign, though his passing accuracy and defensive work remain solid. Meanwhile, De Zerbi is also reportedly eyeing several other former Brighton players, including Carlos Baleba, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Bart Verbruggen, though Spurs are unlikely to land multiple targets from the same club in a single transfer window due to valuation and competition.
