🚨JUST IN: Liverpool are keeping Felix Nmecha on their radar as the Reds

Borussia Dortmund have made their position clear on Felix Nmecha’s future amid growing interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, with fresh details also emerging about the midfielder’s release clause.

A January departure for Nmecha is considered highly unlikely, despite growing interest from several Premier League clubs looking to strengthen their midfield options.

The 26-year-old Germany international has become an important member of Niko Kovač’s squad since joining Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023. His technical ability, physical strength and impressive energy have helped him establish himself as one of the Bundesliga side’s most dependable performers.

His consistent displays have attracted attention from some of England’s biggest clubs.

Manchester United have maintained their interest in the midfielder and are understood to have made contact while exploring potential additions to their midfield.

Liverpool are also monitoring the situation, with Nmecha viewed as a possible alternative if their pursuit of other targets, including Alex Scott, proves unsuccessful.

Chelsea and AS Roma have also kept tabs on the German international, while Newcastle United previously considered a move before withdrawing from the race.

However, Dortmund are in a strong position to determine his future. Nmecha signed a new contract earlier this year, keeping him at the club until 2030, and the German side continue to regard him as a key part of their long-term plans.

Felix Nmecha’s release clause details emerge

Despite the growing transfer speculation, Nmecha does not have a release clause that can be activated during the January transfer window.

Reports indicate that an €80 million release clause will become available next summer. Until then, any interested club would have to negotiate directly with Dortmund, who are understood to value the midfielder at around €100 million.

That valuation could prove a major obstacle for potential suitors, with the asking price already considered too expensive by some interested clubs.

Dortmund are also reluctant to lose such an important player midway through the campaign. With the club competing across multiple competitions, selling Nmecha in January would leave them with the difficult task of finding a suitable replacement during a challenging transfer window.

Kovač and his coaching staff consider stability in midfield essential, and the club have little intention of disrupting their plans by allowing one of their key players to leave at short notice.

As a result, any serious transfer battle is expected to move towards next summer, when the reported release clause becomes active and clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool could have a clearer route to completing a deal.

For now, Dortmund’s stance remains firm: Felix Nmecha is not expected to leave in January, despite the Premier League interest surrounding him.
