Shock move as Liverpool seal a surprise free-transfer deal for Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool are yet to make a signing this summer, but a busy transfer window is expected following the arrival of Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth after Arne Slot’s departure last month.

Strengthening the attack remains a major priority for the Reds, especially after Mohamed Salah’s exit and concerns over the squad’s attacking depth and quality.

According to reports from Uruguay, Liverpool have reached an agreement to re-sign former striker Darwin Nunez on a free transfer. The Al-Hilal forward is expected to return to Anfield once his contract is terminated, with an official announcement likely after the World Cup.

Nunez registered nine goals and five assists for Al-Hilal last season but saw his role reduced following Karim Benzema’s arrival in January.

The Uruguayan left Liverpool only last year but now appears set for a surprise return. His versatility across the front line and Premier League experience could make him a useful squad option under Iraola, although he is unlikely to be viewed as a first-choice attacker.

Despite the potential deal, Liverpool are still expected to pursue younger and more prolific attacking targets, with players such as Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande continuing to attract interest from the club.
