According to the meeting agenda posted Friday morning, Nebraska will seek to name its new football facility for former head football coach Tom Osborne. The Go Big Project would be renamed as the Osborne Legacy Complex.
When he was announced as Nebraska’s new athletic director, Troy Dannen said he needed to learn more about the proposed renovations to Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium, and a small step will be taken in the improvements of the facility. Nebraska’s board of regents will be asked to authorize Phase 2 design services from HDR for renovation of Memorial Stadium.
The contract is part of the $45 million of Phase I improvements and planning approved by the Board last October. It requires additional Board approval given the contract exceeds $5 million. The contract represents the typical next step in the facilities planning process and would allow for continued conceptual design work for improvements to the stadium. No Phase 2 construction work will move forward until detailed construction and financing plans are brought to the Board for consideration.
In a statement announcing the request, Dannen said he is continuing to learn more about the project.
“Right now we’re doing our due diligence – taking time to fully understand the project, its rationale, timeline, cost and benefits. It’s important for us to hear from everyone with a stake in this conversation, from our coaches, staff, fans and donors to the Board of Regents and administration,” Dannen said.
South Dakota State transfer William Kyle was scheduled to take a visit to Kansas State this weekend but told 247Sports that his visit has been canceled and rescheduled to another date.
“We are going to reschedule that visit,” Kyle said on Kansas State. “I talk to Jerome Tang and Rodney Perry. I like how they play with their forwards. Their style is aligned with my game. I am looking forward to exploring their program more.”
Next on Kyle’s schedule is an official visit to Iowa State (April 19th-21st) followed by visits to Wake Forest (Apr. 21st-22nd) and Nebraska (Apr. 26th-28th). He discussed his thoughts on each contending program with 247Sports:
