Liverpool have been dealt another worrying injury setback after Dominik Szoboszlai was forced off during their Premier League clash against Brentford on Saturday.
The Hungarian midfielder had only just returned to Liverpool’s starting lineup after missing the previous two matches with a hamstring problem. Unfortunately, his comeback was cut short when he went down injured in the first half.
Szoboszlai received treatment from Liverpool’s medical staff but was unable to continue. He was substituted around the 32nd minute, with young midfielder Trey Nyoni coming on to replace him.
The Liverpool No. 8 looked visibly frustrated as he walked off the pitch and headed down the tunnel, leaving supporters worried that he might have aggravated his previous injury.
😟 ANOTHER HAMSTRING PROBLEM?
Szoboszlai had already missed Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City and their 6-3 Champions League victory over LASK because of a hamstring issue.
His return against Brentford was expected to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield, but the early substitution has raised fresh concerns about his fitness.
The midfielder is an important player for Liverpool because of his energy, creativity, pressing ability and willingness to work hard at both ends of the pitch.
Losing him again would be a significant setback, particularly with Liverpool facing a demanding schedule of upcoming fixtures.
⏳ HOW LONG WILL SZOBOSZLAI BE OUT?
For now, Liverpool supporters will have to wait for further medical assessments to determine the seriousness of the injury.
The club has not confirmed whether Szoboszlai has suffered a recurrence of his hamstring problem, and there is no official recovery timeline yet.
Although he was able to walk off the pitch, that alone does not establish how serious the injury is.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the substitution was a precaution and that their midfield star will return to action soon.
