Jamie O’Hara has called on Tottenham to part ways with one of their summer signings after a disappointing performance against Aston Villa.

The former Spurs midfielder was furious after Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Villa, a result that has increased concerns over the club’s difficult start to the season.

O’Hara singled out several players for criticism, including Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali and Dominic Solanke.

Speaking on X, O’Hara strongly criticised Van Hecke’s defending and urged Tottenham to get rid of the Dutch centre-back, while also questioning the performances of Tonali, Solanke and Savio.

However, Van Hecke has arguably been one of Tottenham’s more impressive summer additions so far. Although the former Brighton defender lacks outstanding pace and athleticism, his ability to pass the ball from the back has been a notable strength.

Tottenham’s defence made several costly mistakes against Villa, but the partnership between Van Hecke and Micky van de Ven could still develop into a strong centre-back pairing.
