Andoni Iraola has played down fears over Florian Wirtz after the Liverpool

Florian Wirtz will undergo further assessment by Liverpool’s medical staff, although Andoni Iraola remains hopeful that the midfielder has not suffered a serious ankle injury.

“Unfortunately, he had to come off after twisting his ankle slightly,” Iraola explained.

“It doesn’t appear to be a major problem, but with matches coming every three days, we need to assess his condition.”

Liverpool’s latest victory extended their winning streak to four consecutive matches, with Iraola particularly impressed by his team’s positive start.

“I’m very pleased with today’s performance and the four victories we’ve achieved overall,” he said.

“We faced a very good opponent, similar to Villarreal in our previous game. These are technically gifted teams that can be difficult to defend against.

“I believe our start made the difference today. We needed to be more aggressive from the beginning, win the ball back, compete in our duels and create dangerous opportunities on the counter-attack.

“We managed to do that, making this performance different from our previous matches, when we conceded first and had to fight our way back into the game.

“This time, we started strongly, and that changed the course of the match.”

Iraola also expressed confidence in Alexander Isak, insisting the striker will continue finding the net if Liverpool can create the right opportunities for him.

“He’s a striker, and if we can get him into the right positions, deliver crosses and create good chances, he will score goals,” Iraola said.

He also highlighted Bradley Barcola’s contribution, explaining how the winger’s ability to beat opponents one-on-one, use his pace and find dangerous positions can help create scoring opportunities for Isak.
