Tottenham Hotspur have wasted no time reshaping their squad this summer, bringing in six new signings as Roberto De Zerbi continues his major rebuild in north London.
The Italian has strengthened every area of the team, adding Martin Dubravka on a free transfer in goal, defensive trio Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, while Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have arrived to reinforce the midfield.
Spurs’ business is far from finished, though. De Zerbi is now focusing on attacking reinforcements, with Savinho, Rafael Leao and Eli Junior Kroupi all among the names linked with a move to N17.
The overhaul has also seen several exits. Yves Bissouma, Alejo Veliz, Alfie Devine, Radu Dragusin, Luka Vuskovic, and loan duo Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani have all left the club.
Vuskovic’s departure stands out, with Brighton agreeing a £46 million deal for the highly-rated teenager despite him never making a senior appearance for Tottenham.
Another promising youngster could now be heading for the exit. Lucas Bergvall, who joined Spurs from Djurgardens for just £8.5 million two years ago, impressed during his debut campaign by sweeping the club’s Player of the Season awards despite Tottenham’s struggles.
Although Spurs endured a disappointing 17th-place Premier League finish, they ended the season with Europa League glory, and Bergvall was one of the team’s brightest performers.
However, after a turbulent 2025/26 campaign that saw three different managers take charge, the Swedish midfielder found regular starts difficult to come by. The arrivals of Tonali and Fernandes in deals worth a combined £185 million have further reduced his chances, prompting him to seek a move where he can play consistently.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Bergvall is expected to leave this summer after informing Tottenham he wants guaranteed first-team football.
Nottingham Forest have already had a £38 million bid rejected, while Newcastle United have also entered the race, seeing a £46 million offer turned down. Both clubs remain in discussions with Spurs as they attempt to secure the 20-year-old’s signature.
Romano says Bergvall believes he must leave to avoid spending another season on the bench, especially with Tottenham out of European competition and increased competition in midfield.
More departures are expected before the transfer window closes. Cristian Romero is widely tipped to move on, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s future remains uncertain, while Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr and several other young players are also facing uncertain futures.
