Romano: Savinho Eager to Join Tottenham as Spurs Step Up Transfer Pursuit

Savinho is pushing to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that the Brazilian remains keen on joining the north London club.

Spurs were strongly linked with the Manchester City winger at the beginning of the summer, but attention shifted as Roberto De Zerbi focused on strengthening his goalkeeping, defensive and midfield options. After securing six arrivals in those areas, Tottenham have now turned their focus to reinforcing the attack, with Savinho reportedly emerging as one of their leading targets. A deal worth around £65 million is believed to be under discussion.

Tottenham’s admiration for the 22-year-old is nothing new. The club attempted to sign him last summer, but the move failed to materialize despite the player being interested. Limited opportunities under Pep Guardiola encouraged Savinho to consider a switch, and while he featured 36 times for City last season, only 14 of those appearances came as a starter.

The Lilywhites have maintained contact with Manchester City since then and are hopeful of reaching an agreement before the transfer window closes. However, City’s willingness to sell is expected to depend on them bringing in a suitable replacement.

Providing an update on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said Tottenham remain determined to land Savinho, confirming that negotiations between the clubs are ongoing. He added that the winger was ready to join Spurs a year ago and is still eager to make the move, although City must first secure a replacement before giving the green light.

Alongside Savinho, Tottenham have also been linked with players such as Rafael Leão and Eli Junior Kroupi as De Zerbi looks to add more firepower to his squad after an already busy transfer window.

Savinho appears to be De Zerbi’s preferred attacking addition, particularly with Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons dealing with injury concerns. His quality has also been praised by Pep Guardiola, who described the Brazilian as “unstoppable” in one-on-one situations and backed him to develop into a world-class player once he sharpens the final aspects of his game.
