Claressa Shields has responded after a photo seen in the background of one of her recent glam-session videos sparked plenty of discussion online.
The professional boxer recently shared footage of herself getting her makeup done, but viewers quickly shifted their attention away from her beauty routine after noticing a framed photograph in the background. Some social-media users believed the image showed Papoose alongside his estranged wife, Remy Ma, and their daughter, Reminisce Mackenzie.
The speculation spread quickly, particularly because Shields and Remy Ma have been involved in an ongoing public back-and-forth connected to Papoose.
However, Shields stepped into the conversation herself and explained that viewers had misidentified the people in the photograph. According to Shields, the picture did not include Remy Ma.
She clarified that the photograph showed Papoose with two of his daughters — his oldest daughter, Dejanae Mackie, and his youngest daughter, Reminisce Mackenzie, whom he shares with Remy.
Shields appeared frustrated by the amount of attention people were giving the background image and suggested that some social-media users were overly focused on her relationship with Papoose.
Her clarification did little to stop the conversation, though, as users continued debating what the photograph meant and why it remained visible in the location where Shields was getting ready.
Some commenters questioned why photographs connected to Papoose’s previous family life were still displayed, while others criticized people for zooming in on the background of Shields’ video in the first place. Others defended the boxer and argued that the online scrutiny had gone too far.
The incident comes amid continued public attention surrounding the complicated relationship between Shields, Papoose and Remy Ma. The three have remained connected in the headlines as Papoose and Remy’s separation continues to generate discussion.
Papoose has also addressed aspects of the situation through his music. His song “Jezebel” has attracted attention because listeners interpreted portions of the track as references to his relationship with Remy Ma and their ongoing split.
For now, Shields has made her position on the viral photograph clear: the woman some viewers believed was Remy Ma was not in the picture. She identified the two girls pictured with Papoose as his daughters and pushed back against the speculation surrounding the image.
Despite her explanation, the photograph has continued to fuel conversation online, showing just how closely social-media users are following every detail surrounding the ongoing Papoose, Remy Ma and Claressa Shields drama.
