XAVI SIMONS INJURY UPDATE: TOTTENHAM RECEIVE MAJOR BOOST

Tottenham Receive Encouraging Xavi Simons Injury News

Tottenham Hotspur have received encouraging news regarding the recovery of attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, with fresh reports suggesting that his rehabilitation is progressing well.

The Dutch international suffered a serious knee injury towards the end of the 2025/26 Premier League season. The setback came just as he was beginning to show his quality under manager Roberto De Zerbi, leaving Tottenham without one of their most creative players.

Simons underwent surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Tottenham’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in April 2026. His injury ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign and the summer World Cup.

Simons Making Good Progress

There had been concerns among Tottenham supporters following reports from the Netherlands suggesting that the midfielder might not return to action until February 2027.

However, a more positive update from Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has provided fresh hope for Spurs fans.

According to the report, Simons is making encouraging progress in his rehabilitation and has been working on the training pitch wearing football boots over the past two weeks.

Although he will not join his teammates on their bonding trip to Marbella, Spain, his recovery is reportedly progressing well. The latest information suggests that he remains on course for a return around late January 2027, although his exact comeback date has not been confirmed.

The update will ease some of the concerns surrounding his recovery, particularly after Tottenham supporters witnessed Dejan Kulusevski endure a lengthy absence because of a serious knee problem.

Tottenham Eager to Welcome Their Playmakers Back

Simons’ return will be important for Tottenham, who need more creativity, quality and attacking threat as they look to improve their performances.

The Dutch midfielder has shown glimpses of his enormous potential since arriving in north London, and his brief spell working under De Zerbi suggested that he could become a key figure in the team’s attacking setup.

Tottenham are also waiting for Kulusevski to return after an extended spell on the sidelines. Meanwhile, James Maddison is continuing his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered towards the end of the 2024/25 season.

Having these attacking players available again would give De Zerbi more options and provide the team with a significant boost.

For now, Tottenham supporters will be hoping Simons continues to make steady progress and returns to full fitness as expected.

The main positive is that there are currently encouraging signs in Simons’ rehabilitation, despite concerns about a possible delay to his comeback.
