31-year-old charged with murder of man found shot to death near PRP elementary school
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting on Greenwood Road near an elementary school that happened Friday afternoon.
Louisville Metro Police arrested 31-year-old Patrick Anderson around 5:30 p.m. and charged him with murder.
Police said they were originally called to the scene for reports of a crash, but when they arrived, they found someone in a car with a gunshot wound to the head.
They said the man was rushed to UofL Hospital where he died.
Police say they arrested Anderson after determining he fit the description seen on surveillance video showing a man fleeing the scene of the shooting in a car.
They said that the video, obtained from the Circle K there on Greenwood Road, showed Anderson getting into the vehicle before it crashed into a pole at Greenwood Elementary School.
LMPD detectives said that witnesses they interviewed said Anderson was the only one seen fleeing from the car after it wrecked.
They searched the car and found spent shell casings inside.
Detectives say Anderson waived his Miranda rights and admitted to being inside the car.
He is also charged with tampering with evidence and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
