Richmond make first delistings ahead of monster draft haul.

Richmond has made its first round of delistings with forward Noah Cumberland among three players axed.

Cumberland, Matthew Coulthard and Mate Colina were not offered contracts for the 2025 season, but Category B rookie Colina will be re-listed after the draft.

 

The Tigers need to make list space for their upcoming AFL National Drafr haul, with the club having picks 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24.

 

After 25 games for the club, including seven this season, 23-year-old Cumberland showed nous up forward, kicking multiple goals or more 10 times across his career.

Coulthard was selected in the 2023 Mid-Season Draft and played six games in the yellow and black.

 

“Both Noah and Matthew moved interstate to join Richmond and put their best foot forward during their time at the club,” Richmond football talent boss Blair Hartley said via a statement.

We thank Noah for his hard work and efforts across the past five years with us, and Matthew for his contribution across the last 18 months.

 

“We wish them well for their future endeavours.”

Colina, a former basketballer, will be given another chance on Richmond’s list having failed to play a senior game due to back problems.

Richmond has delisted versatile forward Noah Cumberland, ending his five-year stint at the Tigers. The 23-year-old was informed, along with teammate Matt Coulthard, that they would not be offered contracts for the 2025 AFL season

Cumberland, a product of the Brisbane Lions Academy, was originally selected with pick No. 43 in the 2019 AFL Draft.

 

His time at Richmond was marked by both promise and setbacks. A serious ACL injury sidelined him for his entire debut season, and he didn’t play a senior game in 2020.

 

Cumberland’s breakthrough came in 2022, when he kicked 19 goals across nine games, helping Richmond push for finals that year. His talent was evident, and he earned an AFL Rising Star nomination that season.

 

Despite showing glimpses of his attacking potential, Cumberland struggled to secure a permanent place in Richmond’s starting 22. He played in only nine games again in 2023 and featured just seven times in 2024.

Across his 25-game career, Cumberland booted 33 goals but was unable to consistently find the form he displayed in glimpses of 2022.

Richmond’s General Manager of Football Talent, Blair Hartley, thanked Cumberland for his contribution to the club.

 

“Noah has worked incredibly hard during his time at Richmond, and we are grateful for his efforts across the past five years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Coulthard, also 23, joined Richmond via the 2023 Mid-Season Rookie Draft but only managed six games for the club.

 

Meanwhile, Richmond also announced its intention to re-list Category B Rookie Mate Colina following the upcoming AFL Draft and Rookie Draft in November.

The two departures add to a hefty list of 2025 losses, with all of Liam Baker (Traded – West Coast), Shai Bolton (Traded – Fremantle), Jack Graham (Free agent – West Coast), Dylan Grimes (Retired), Dustin Martin (Retired), Sam Naismith (Retired), Marlion Pickett (Retired), Daniel Rioli (Traded – Gold Coast) already out the door.

 

The Tigers are now looking to the future with an array of first-round picks in the upcoming National Draft, tallying eight of the first 24 selections, as they continue to reshape their list under new coach Adem Yze.
