Eddie Hall is undoubtedly one of the most well-known Strongmen in Britain.
He’s a legendary figure, giving us unforgettable moments like knocking out two brothers in one round during his MMA debut and leg pressing an astonishing 1,000kg.
However, the former UK’s Strongest Man really pushes his limits, as seen in a past competition where he fainted during a grueling Strongman challenge that most wouldn’t even consider attempting.
The now 36-year-old was taking part in the Conan’s Wheel event, named after the legendary character known for his strength and power—Conan the Barbarian.
Conan’s Wheel is regarded by Strongman competitors as a “test of unmatched endurance and strength,” requiring both physical power and mental resilience.
Essentially, it consists of a long bar mounted on a pivot, with weights attached at one end that the athlete must lift and carry around.
This challenging event has become a crucial part of top strength competitions worldwide, but it’s definitely not for the weak-hearted.
During his bid to become Britain’s Strongest Man in 2014, the video highlights the intense strain it placed on Hall.
The commentator remarks, “This is mind over matter, and his mind says the pain doesn’t matter,” as The Beast carries the bar.
As he completes full rotations of the wheel, it’s observed that Hall is moving slower than his competitor, with commentators noting that his body shape might not lend itself well to this challenge.
He begins to struggle, with his arms sinking to his waist, and he’s barely able to keep moving. Eventually, Hall drops the bar, collapsing to his knees and then onto his back, appearing to faint after completing 720 degrees of the ‘Conan’s Circle.’
The crew quickly rushes to Hall, who soon regains consciousness and gets back on his feet, “covered in paint and glory.”
His determination is undeniable; he ultimately won his first Britain’s Strongest Man title that year. This victory marked the beginning of an impressive streak, culminating in his fifth consecutive title in 2018 before he retired from competitions shortly after. What a legend.
