Ozzy Osbourne Announces Retirement from Touring: “My Body Is Telling Me It’s Time”.
In a major announcement that marks the end of an era, legendary heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne has officially retired from touring. After more than five decades of defining the sound of heavy metal and thrilling audiences around the globe, Osbourne, often referred to as the “Prince of Darkness,” is stepping away from the grueling demands of life on the road. At 75, the former Black Sabbath frontman cited ongoing health issues as the primary reason for his decision.
Known for his wild onstage antics and distinct voice, Osbourne’s career has spanned more than 50 years, beginning as the frontman of Black Sabbath in 1968. With his signature haunting vocals and shocking persona, he helped define the heavy metal genre, contributing to timeless albums like *Paranoid* (1970) and *Master of Reality* (1971). In 1979, Osbourne embarked on a highly successful solo career, delivering hits like “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “No More Tears,” which solidified his status as a metal legend.
Osbourne’s health challenges have been well-documented in recent years, with the singer undergoing a series of surgeries and treatments for various ailments, including a battle with Parkinson’s disease, spinal injuries from a fall in 2019, and a near-fatal staph infection. Despite these setbacks, Ozzy remained optimistic about returning to the stage, having initially planned a farewell tour dubbed “No More Tours 2” that was repeatedly postponed due to his health.
In a heartfelt statement shared with fans, Osbourne acknowledged the difficulty of his decision, saying, “This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. My singing voice is fine, but after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and, most recently, a groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) treatment, my body is still physically weak.”
Despite retiring from touring, Osbourne assured fans that he would continue creating music and working on other projects. “I never imagined that my touring days would have ended this way,” he said, “but I want you all to know that I’m not giving up on music. I’ll still be doing as much as I can.”
The rock world has responded with an outpouring of support, with fellow musicians and fans paying tribute to his influence and legacy.
