Susanna Reid pauses GMB as she admits to being ‘distracted’ over Jay Slater

Susanna Reid and Ed Balls chatted about missing teenager Jay Slater during Monday’s Good Morning Britain, with Susanna admitting to “feeling distracted”.

The ITV host apologised before discussing the case of the missing teenager and how police had stopped searching for him.

She began: “Sorry, I was slightly distracted by the news about Jay Slater and the fact that the police there in Tenerife have decided to stop the actual search…I just feel…how has that young man disappeared into thin air?

“And what did the family do now? because, you know, we all imagine, everyone imagines what you’d…I just would not be able to leave.

“How could you possibly? You couldn’t leave Tenerife, could you? Knowing that your son is somewhere there?”

“We have seen this before, haven’t we in the last few months,” Ed chipped in before adding: “As time passes, the internet fills with speculation, stories, and conspiracies, and for the family, they’ll know there is a simple explanation, but they will also be reading all of this complexity and they just don’t know.”

The hosts also spoke with Richard Gaisford, who appeared via video link in Tenerife.

He explained the family of Jay has vowed to continue the search for the missing teenager, who disappeared almost two weeks ago.

“The case is not closed by the Spanish police but they have actively stopped searching,” he confirmed.
