Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid shares social media statement after announcing break

“Highlighting the fact that I’ve left you in good hands!”

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has shared a statement on social media after announcing she will take a temporary break from the show.

The star confirmed at the end of yesterday’s (July 10) edition of the ITV morning show that she will be enjoying some time away for the summer holidays.

“I’m going to say goodbye because it’s now time for me to go off on a break, which means I say goodbye to you at home,” she told viewers, revealing she will be back on screens in a couple of months’ time.

“You never know, I might pop up in the meantime, but otherwise I see you back in September!”

When fellow presenter Ed Balls expressed disappointment to see Susanna go, she replied: “You will be in the capable hands of the rest of the Good Morning Britain team… I will see you in September. Thanks for your company.”

Taking to her Instagram following the news, Susanna posted a picture of herself with her GMB co-stars Ed, Laura Tobin and Charlotte Hawkins while holding highlighters matching their outfits.

“Highlighting the fact that I’ve left you in good hands!” she captioned the post.

Susanna has been the lead presenter on GMB since its inception in 2014, and regularly hosts the show alongside the likes of Ed, Charlotte, Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh and Richard Madeley.

Meanwhile, earlier this year the star was forced to apologise after show guest and then-Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper swore on air.

After Cooper described former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda bill as a “costly gimmick”, the politician added: “The Home Secretary himself has described it as batshit.”

Susanna then responded: “Sorry, we can’t use that word on television.”
