Susanna Reid debuted a new shorter hairstyle on Good Morning Britain this week but she pulled out of showing off her new look on This Morning following a night at the NTAs

Susanna Reid was forced to cancel her cameo on This Morning on Wednesday after pulling out of presenting Good Morning Britain.

The 52-year-old surprised viewers as it was revealed she wouldn’t be hosting the ITV morning show, after losing her voice at the National Television Awards on Tuesday night. Charlotte Hawkins stepped in at the last minute to host alongside former MP Ed Balls, who said he was shocked by the impromptu change-up as he had seen Susanna in her dressing room when he arrived.

“I came into the studio as usual about 4:30am. Walked past Susanna Reid’s dressing room. There was Susanna, as always, in her white dressing gown, getting ready for the show to come. This feels like a bit of a change!” he told viewers. Charlotte explained that Susanna had come down with a mystery illness, meaning she had lost her voice and would be off air on Wednesday. However, her ailment also meant that she missed out on appearing on another ITV show later that morning

After debuting her daring new shorter hairstyle to GMB viewers on Monday, the mum-of-three was set to discuss her chic ‘do during a segment on This Morning, but hosts Holly Willoughby and Craig Doyle sadly revealed Susanna would be absent. “Susanna was meant to be with us today, to talk about inspiring women brave enough to have the chop, but, sadly, she lost her voice this morning,” Holly explained

“So, get well soon Susanna. She’s probably at home watching this, lots of love,” she sweetly added. Holly’s co-host Craig told viewers that hairdresser to the stars Luke Hersheshon was on the show, and would be advising older women on getting their hair chopped off to help them look years younger. “Everybody’s reacted really well to Susanna’s hair, she looks really lovely,” Holly added.
