Tottenham Hotspur’s problems over the past two seasons have stretched beyond goalkeeping and defensive instability, with a lack of cutting edge in attack becoming one of their biggest concerns.<\/p>\n
During the 2024\/25 Premier League campaign under Ange Postecoglou, Brennan Johnson finished as Spurs’ top scorer with just 11 league goals, while James Maddison and Dominic Solanke managed nine each. Last season brought a similar pattern, with Richarlison leading the charts on 11 goals, followed by Jo\u00e3o Palhinha with only five.<\/p>\n
Those modest returns have highlighted the need for a reliable goalscorer, which explains Tottenham’s growing interest in Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi.<\/p>\n
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise since joining Bournemouth from Lorient for \u00a312m, scoring 13 Premier League goals in his debut season\u2014the highest tally by a teenage debutant in the club’s history. Before arriving in England, he netted 23 goals in all competitions for Lorient, including 22 in Ligue 2. Overall, Kroupi has scored 36 goals since the start of the 2024\/25 campaign.<\/p>\n
His numbers compare favourably with Tottenham’s current attackers. Richarlison has scored 32 goals since joining Spurs in 2022, Dominic Solanke has managed 22 over the last two seasons, while Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani have also struggled to produce consistently in front of goal.<\/p>\n
Ever since Harry Kane departed after scoring 30 Premier League goals in his final Spurs season, the club have lacked a prolific striker capable of leading the attack. Kroupi is viewed as someone who could help change that, although he is unlikely to solve the issue alone.<\/p>\n
Reports suggest Tottenham are eager to bring the French forward to north London, despite Bournemouth’s reported \u00a390m valuation. Arsenal are also monitoring the striker, setting up another potential transfer battle between the rivals.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Spurs are believed to be keeping tabs on Aston Villa and England forward Morgan Rogers. Although Rogers reportedly favours a move to Arsenal after the World Cup, Tottenham remain interested and could test Villa’s resolve for the player, who is valued at around \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n
A partnership between Rogers and Kroupi could give Roberto De Zerbi an exciting new-look attack. Kroupi is a clinical finisher, converting 25% of his chances last season while missing only three big opportunities. His movement and instinct inside the penalty area have drawn comparisons with former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.<\/p>\n
Unlike a traditional target man, Kroupi relies on sharp movement and intelligent positioning rather than physicality. That is where Rogers could complement him perfectly.<\/p>\n
Comfortable playing as a number ten or from the left, Rogers combines power, dribbling ability and creativity. Former teammate Nicol\u00f2 Zaniolo even described him as “one of the best players in England.” His driving runs attract defenders and create space for teammates, while last season he contributed 10 Premier League goals, six assists and created 13 big chances.<\/p>\n
With Rogers supplying chances and Kroupi finishing them, Tottenham could finally develop the attacking partnership they have lacked since Kane’s departure.
