Kate Garraway forced to shut down coronavirus concerns on GMB as fans reach out: ‘I’m not being irresponsible!’

Kate Garraway has insisted she’s safe to film Good Morning Britain after fans were left concerned at her croaky voice amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The presenter was forced to address the concerns on the show, explaining: ‘A couple of people have been in touch to say I sound a bit croaky this morning, I’m not being irresponsible, I’ve just spent the last 48 hours continually talking.’

She went on to say: ‘That’s no pandemic. That’s the common Kate!’ before adding: ‘Nothing to worry about there, but thank you for your concern.’

‘I am completely safe to be operating out and about,’ she insisted.

Elsewhere on the show, she and co-presenter Ben Shephard have been keeping their distance.

‘We’re keeping well apart,’ Kate said, with Ben joking: ‘This is my own [guideline], this is what I’ve been working towards…the studio’s never been cleaner.’

They’re following the example of Piers Morgan and Ranvir Singh earlier in the week.

Explaining the situation to audiences, Piers began: ‘Firstly Ranvir, no offense, we’re being separated here on health grounds. Ranvir said, “I’ll only co-host with him if you literally put up a barrier”’.

Ranvir added: ‘The studio might look a bit different camera wise.’
