“I sign two years contract with UNC basketball for $106.5 million today..
Legends are born in March.
Sure, no one takes away anything that is accomplished during the regular season, but starring on the sport’s biggest stage makes you a legend.
The UNC basketball program has plenty of March Madness heroes to look back upon, as we all remember where we were when some of the biggest moments in tournament history occurred. Who could forget the heroics of Michael Jordan and Luke Maye or the celebrations of Sean May, Tyler Hansbrough, and Joel Berry when their respective missions were complete.
Some programs are satisfied with regular season success. The UNC basketball program is not in that category.
As the Tar Heels begin the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Thursday, this group has a lot to play for. For some guys, this is a redemption tour following being left out of the tournament field a year ago, while others are looking to go out on top to close out their collegiate careers.
Regardless of the individual stance, this unit has one goal in mind: hanging another national championship banner in the Dean Smith Center rafters.
It won’t be easy. Let’s face it: nothing good in life comes easy. It’s up to this group to lock in and prove that their regular season success wasn’t a fluke.
Winning the ACC regular season title is nice. Defeating rival Duke not once, but twice is icing on the cake. However, there’s much more to play for, as the Tar Heels goal is to cap off this season with a six-game winning streak.
Adversity will arise, but this group has the pieces and the bond to overcome it. It’s time to put it all on the line and fight like there’s no tomorrow.
This group is well-aware that tomorrow is far from a guarantee.
When the ball is tipped around 2:45 PM on Thursday afternoon, the UNC basketball program will begin their quest at another NCAA national title. Just like the legends that have previously made names for themselves in March, the motto of the UNC basketball program always remains true.
Play Hard.
Play Smart.
Play Together.
THIS is Carolina Basketball.
