A Louisville woman was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting last weekend in the Newburg neighborhood, according to court records.
Grenisa Smith, 31, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree murder, records with the Jefferson County District Court confirm.
The deadly shooting was reported before 5 p.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of Shasta Trail.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the victim, Jossette Lane, died of a gunshot wound at University Hospital.
Court records indicate that Smith and Lane were involved in an argument before the shooting that Sunday. According to the report, the argument then turned physical.
Witnesses told investigators that Smith kicked Lane several times. The witnesses said they tried to break the two apart, when Smith left the home, returned with a gun and told Lane she was going to kill her.
According to the court document, Smith then pulled the trigger, shooting Lane in the head.
One of the victims identified Smith as the shooter, officials said.
Additional details were not released.
Smith is due for arraignment this weekend.
