embodies the genre better than Cody Jinks. The country singer has tremendous range, as he’s shown in his catalogue, going from slower songs like “Sober Thing” to southern rock anthems like “Must Be The Whiskey.”

And if you’ve ever listened to Jinks and thought his vocals would match up well with a classic rock cover, you are in luck. Earlier today, Cody Jinks uploaded a performance from a recent Detroit concert where he elected to cover AC/DC’s “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock and Roll).” Cody Jinks might have been playing acoustic guitar, but it was electric – if you catch my drift.
AC/DC released the song all the way back in 1975 as a part of their iconic T.N.T. album. Obviously, the song has had tremendous staying power, as do much of their recordings. And that’s partly thanks to artists like Jinks who have an appreciation for rock and roll and want to help carry on the legacy of some of the greats.
I’d imagine AC/DC would approve of this version of “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock and Roll).” Check it out:
COME ON WITH IT.
As always, Cody Jinks brought it with the cover, and it honestly just makes me think that a rock and roll cover album could suit the outlaw country artist very well. I’d at least be here for it, and based upon some of the comments that fans left below the video, there are some tried-and-true Jinks fans that would support that idea as well:
“Never clicked on something so fast. Rock on brother.”
“Badass. Cody rocks!”
“Oh sh*t you guys rocked that.”
“Hell yeah! More of this man! I don’t know a single country boy that didn’t have a steady diet of rock AND country.”
“I hate AC/DC because of the lead singer’s voice. This is much better.”

Zach Bryan Admits He Regrets Leaving “Something In The Orange” Off The Setlist At Some Shows: “Thought It Would Be Too Many Bummers”
Aaron Ryan·COUNTRY MUSIC·August 30, 2024
Zach Bryan

Misread the room.
Zach Bryan recently wrapped up his massive Quittin’ Time tour, which saw the country music superstar selling out massive stadiums all around the country.
He also recently celebrated his first #1 single, “Something In The Orange,” reaching 1 BILLION streams on Spotify, becoming one of only six country songs to reach the billion mark on the streaming platform.
pray I get to record music forever for you guys https://t.co/l5OoM43NYa pic.twitter.com/TkI74959Lq

So it was a little weird that he left the “Something In The Orange,” which was included on his album American Heartbreak, off the setlist for many of the shows on his most recent tour.
I mean, imagine Chris Stapleton not playing “Tennessee Whiskey,” or Garth Brooks not playing “Friends In Low Places.” Some songs you just gotta play.
Fans obviously let Zach hear it when they…well, didn’t hear it. And as he’s reflecting back on the tour, Zach admits that it may have been a mistake to leave that one off the setlist.
Now, his reasoning was pretty solid: The artist revealed that he didn’t want to include both “I Remember Everything” and “Something In The Orange” because he didn’t want the setlist to have “too many bummers.” But I feel like if there’s any audience that’s going to be ok with one more sad song, it’s Zach Bryan’s. Especially when both of those sad songs are your biggest hits to date.
But regardless, Zach admits that he may have misread the room by not including both of them:
“Kind of misread it this year!
Didn’t want to put I remember everything and SITO in the same sets because I thought it would be too many bummers for one night but I think I was wrong. Sorry to anyone who missed it. I’ll prolly regret it for a little bit but letting go and moving on soon enough.”

Then again, there are quite a few artists out there who don’t play some of their biggest hits. Tyler Childers doesn’t play “Feathered Indians” anymore, and he only recently added “Whitehouse Road” back into his setlist.
Ultimately, fans will get over not hearing one song during an incredible show.
But I have a feeling the next time Zach hits the road, fans can count on hearing “Something In the Orange.”

Every Country Song With One Billion Spotify Streams
Andrew Mies·COUNTRY MUSIC·August 30, 2024

Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Spotify is king of music streaming.
Boasting over 626 million total users and 246 million subscribers, Spotify dominates the music streaming industry, taking up around 31% of total market share according to the Seattle Times, so it’s a pretty good litmus test to see how well an artist or a song is doing based off Spotify streaming numbers alone.
Of course, that doesn’t tell the entire picture as some artists work the system and have their label get them on highly followed playlists which can artificially inflate their numbers while not being able to do the actual most important thing in music, get asses in seats, but none the less, it’s a good metric, especially when looking at just how big of a hit a certain song is.
To date, there’s been 6 country songs that have hit the 1 billion streams mark on Spotify, though I will qualify that not all of them are country in the strict sense.
Zach Bryan – “Something In The Orange”
That’s right, the Navy man turned superstar was the latest to crack this short list. From his 2022 American Heartbreak album, “Something In The Orange” has become the biggest song in Zach Bryan’s short career and is bound to be a fan favorite for a long, long time.
thank you guys so much for a billion on Something in The Orange.
Never in a million years could I of ever dreamed it. I love you guys so much and can’t explain how much it means

Chris Stapleton – “Tennessee Whiskey”
Not many people remember that this one’s a cover at this point… What’s become Chris Stapleton’s signature song is one of the few country songs to ever be certified Diamond, so it’s no surprise that it crossed the billion streams mark earlier this month.
Morgan Wallen – “Last Night”
Thus begins the part of the list that can be referred to as “Questionable”.
The streaming success of Morgan Wallen’s last two albums is something that’s going to be studied by music historians but nothing has been quite as successful as the third single from his 2023 album One Thing At A Time, which became the first song to stream a billion times in a single year, just the mark just 6 months after it had been released.
Noah Kahan – “Stick Season”
Is this actually a country song? No, but it’s a heck of a lot more country than the song before it and the two after, so I’m going to include it here.
“Stick Season” was the lead single and title track for Noah Kahan’s 2023 album and his ticket to superstardom. Country artists like Kelsea Ballerini and Zach Bryan have collaborated with him in the past and quite honestly I think his catalogue would fit nicely in the country genre, if only so he get added to country festival lineups so I can see him easier…
Bebe Rexha, Florida Georgia Line – “Meant To Be”
And the award for least country of the country songs on the list goes to…
I guess it’s hard to argue against success but the lyrics on this one are just so painfully hard to listen to. It’s hard to imagine it being written by four fully grown adults and not a third grader.
This is an actual section of the song in case you’re somehow unfamiliar.
So, come on, ride with me, ride with me
See where this thing goes
So, come on, ride with me, ride with me
Baby, if it’s meant to be
Maybe we do
Maybe we don’t
Maybe we will
Maybe we won’t
But if it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be
Baby, just let it be (sing it, Bebe)
If it’s meant to be, it’ll be, it’ll be (come on)
Baby, just let it be (let’s go)
Poetic genius.
Dan + Shay, Justin Bieber – “10,000 Hours”
And finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the Justin Bieber song!
Admittedly, this is one of Dan + Shay’s better tracks in my opinion, but it may just be the fact that Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers played such a major role in my early reading.
This was the first country song to ever reach the 1 billion streams mark, which was good for the genre but a little disappointing that it took a Justin Bieber feature to get us there.
