The Florida Gators are back at it again on Thursday, as more prospects will be hitting Gainesville to spend some time on campus. The Gators have practice that day, so seeing all the preparation that goes into the day will be the key thing to show off. Many of the visitors on Thursday will be in town for multiple days, so it will be a good chance for the coaching staff to make a strong impression. Swamp247 takes a look at the names expected on hand.

he headline of the group expected in town that day is Greensboro (GA) Greene County Top100 defensive lineman Kevin Wynn. The Gators extended an offer this past October, but have yet to host him on campus. At the time it was former assistant Sean Spencer, but he’s no longer with the program. Since arriving to the staff this offseason, new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman quickly zeroed in on Wynn as a target. This is a big visit for the Gators, as he heads to town knowing little about the program overall, so much of the Gators trajectory will likely hinge on the impression made. Wynn has been to Florida State, Georgia, and South Carolina so far this spring, and the Bulldogs and Seminoles are two program that are probably the ones to keep the closest eye on at this point. Those are the two teams have official visits set for the summer with Georgia set for the weekend of May 31 and Florida State for the weekend June 21. He has a top 10 of South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, FSU, Tennessee, Alabama, NC State, USC, LSU and Michigan.
Florida opens spring camp on Thursday, March 7, practicing each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, excluding March 10-16, when its players are on spring break. Prospective college athletes are allowed an up-close look at how programs run during these times. Florida holds three scrimmages on March 30, April 6, and finally, the Orange and Blue Game on April 13.
The deadline to enter the college basketball transfer portal is less than four weeks away. There are 1,388 players in the transfer portal as of Thursday, and that number will undoubtedly grow. After Thursday’s NIT Championship game between Indiana State and Seton Hall, the four teams in the Final Four (NC State, UConn, Purdue and Alabama) will be the lone teams alive.
Everyone else is fully locked in on the transfer portal.
“When the season is over, it gets amped up even more,” Illinois coach Brad Underwood said. “I mean, there’s no downtime. It is crank it up. Our staff is working hard at that. We’re paying attention daily to what’s going on in the portal, and if you’re not, you’re probably falling behind.”
The team needs when the portal opened on March 18 and the team needs now in early April have shifted due to dozens of commitments and some key stay-or-go decisions that have been made.
Thursday kickstarts a week-long dead period where both campus visits and in-person recruiting is not allowed until April 11. Numerous transfers have visits scheduled for after the dead period ends.

That might give time for the coaching carousel to finally simmer. Andy Enfield left for the SMU job, so the USC opening has major implications for the transfer portal. Who takes that job? What ripple effects does that cause?
