ESPN REPORT: Gators reacts to Graham Mertz’s shocking remark on Billy Napier

The Florida Gators are back at it again on Thursday, as more prospects will be hitting Gainesville to spend some time on campus. The Gators have practice that day, so seeing all the preparation that goes into the day will be the key thing to show off. Many of the visitors on Thursday will be in town for multiple days, so it will be a good chance for the coaching staff to make a strong impression. Swamp247 takes a look at the names expected on hand.

The headline of the group expected in town that day is Greensboro (GA) Greene County Top100 defensive lineman Kevin Wynn. The Gators extended an offer this past October, but have yet to host him on campus. At the time it was former assistant Sean Spencer, but he’s no longer with the program. Since arriving to the staff this offseason, new defensive line coach Gerald Chatman quickly zeroed in on Wynn as a target. This is a big visit for the Gators, as he heads to town knowing little about the program overall, so much of the Gators trajectory will likely hinge on the impression made. Wynn has been to Florida State, Georgia, and South Carolina so far this spring, and the Bulldogs and Seminoles are two program that are probably the ones to keep the closest eye on at this point. Those are the two teams have official visits set for the summer with Georgia set for the weekend of May 31 and Florida State for the weekend June 21. He has a top 10 of South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, FSU, Tennessee, Alabama, NC State, USC, LSU and Michigan.

Florida landed a prospect in the 2024 class from Olney (MD) Good Counsel in LB Aaron Chiles, and have another target on the board from there in 2025. That is three-star interior offensive lineman Gavin Crawford. After the Gators extended an offer back in late January, he’s set to make his first ever visit to campus, and will spend a few days there. He arrived in town late Wednesday, and will get around The Swamp from Thursday to Saturday. Crawford has a top five of Duke, Florida, Maryland, Syracuse, and West Virginia. So far, he’s got a pair of official visits set to that group, which include West Virginia (May 31) and Maryland (June 14). He’s going to have plenty of time to forge relationships and familiarize himself with Florida during his extended stay. He was first offered by former assistant Darnell Stapleton, who has since left for the NFL. It will be a chance for Rob Sale and John DeCoster to make their presence here.
