Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins makes ‘breaking news’ announcement
Charlotte Hawkins began her news segment with some “breaking news” on Friday’s Good Morning Britain. The ITV star told ITV viewers: “Good morning and starting with some breaking news.
“The UK’s recovery from recession has been stronger than previously thought. The Office of National Statistics has issued revised growth figures for the first quarter and says that GDP rose by 0.7 percent between January and March ant not at six percent as it had originally estimated.”
The GMB X account also shared a clip of Charlotte’s announcement along with the caption: “BREAKING NEWS.” It went on to repeat what Charlotte had stated on the show.
Taking to the comments section on social media, one fan said: “Good – but not great.”
Another went on: “That’s bigging up a 0.1% difference a bit too much there.”
A third added: “Now none of us trust ONS. That’s not right. We know that there’s something very dodgy with managers in there. Investigation into them must be launched.”
Elsewhere in the programme, Andi Peters and Charlotte were having a conversation on the sofa when Kate Garraway cut them off.
The 57-year-old excitedly announced that a lucky viewer could bag a whopping £250,000 if they entered the show’s competition.
She then tried to pass the baton to Andi, who seemed engrossed in a chat with colleague Charlotte. “Andi is so excited about the prize,” Kate declared.
“He’s got up early. He’s joining us in the studio. He’s having a good old gossip with Charlotte Hawkins… ignoring us? ” Kate said before calling out to grab his attention.
“Sorry! ” Andi called back, explaining: “I was just telling Charlotte she looks like she’s been tangoed.”
Charlotte, donning a vibrant orange dress, responded: “Yeah, thanks for that.”
Kate quipped: “We’re a couple of highlighter pens this morning, Charlotte and I.”
