However, Coach Gerlich has faced significant health challenges in the past. In January 2020, while serving as the head coach at UT Arlington, she was diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer. She underwent radiation treatment and, later that year, a double mastectomy after doctors determined the cancer was not entirely eradicated. Coach Gerlich’s association with Texas Tech is deeply rooted. A former Lady Raider player, she was part of the team that clinched the national championship in 1993. In August 2020, Gerlich returned to her alma mater as the head coach of the Lady Raiders. Her contract details included a five-year agreement valued at $2.9 million, with an annual base salary of $300,000 and additional performance-based incentives.
