Manchester United advised to go for Chelsea flop, who will likely be sold this summer
Dwight Yorke has advised his former club, Manchester United to re-sign Romelu Lukaku this summer, as he believes the player is ‘absolutely still good enough’ to play for a top-six side.
Lukaku is currently on loan at AS Roma from Chelsea, after failing to impress at Stamford Bridge, following his expensive move from Inter Milan back in 2020.
The 30-year-old has however done well in Italy this season, scoring 18 times for them across all competitions, even though he remains one of 15 players set to be sold by the Blues this summer.
Prior to his move to Inter in 2019, Lukaku spent two years with Man United, after joining them from Everton in a £75m transfer in 2017.
The Belgian enjoyed a remarkable debut season at Old Trafford, scoring 27 times across all competitions, before he fell down the pecking order as a result of an underwhelming second season.
Yorke however believes the Chelsea man has done enough to show he can still play at a top level, and has now urged United to try and get him back to Old Trafford.
“Romelu Lukaku is absolutely still good enough to play for a top-six club,” Yorke told OLBG.
“I think Man United or Tottenham should take Lukaku on a loan deal and agree to pay a certain amount of his wages.
“As much as people say about Lukaku, he has a very impressive goalscoring record and he doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves.
“If you have a fired-up Lukaku who wants to play for you, he’s a match-winner and a handful for any opponent in the world.
“Man United have invested heavily in Rasmus Hojlund, but if you want to compete with the best then Lukaku is that player who can score 15 to 20 goals in a season, which is priceless and hard to find in today’s game.
“Lukaku is still only 30 years old and a proven goalscorer, I think whoever gets him on a loan deal will have done good and subtle business.”
