The Beatles have been one of the most iconic and influential bands of all time, and 50 years on from their split they still have a huge following.

All of the band members went on to have solo careers, including the band’s guitarist George Harrison, who released 10 studio albums before he sadly died in 2001.

It has now been revealed that George’s childhood home will be put up for auction on 30th November. The house is located in Speke, Liverpool, and the Harrison family moved there in 1950. George lived in the house from the age of six until he was 18-years-old.

On 5th November, Omega Auctions, who are handling the auction took to Twitter to promote the exciting news: ‘On November 30th we’ll offer George Harrison’s childhood home at auction.’

Omega Auctions also spoke about George’s time living in the property, describing it as ‘The property where George spent his formative years’, and mentioned that it ‘played an important part in helping The Beatles flourish soon after the Harrison family moved in 1962’.

The house had been used as a regular rehearsal venue for the band The Quarrymen where George played with John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and they later rehearsed there as The Beatles. George and his family moved out of the home in 1962, two years after The Beatles had formed.

There are numerous photos of the band members together as teenagers in the Harrison family home, and there are a number of features within the house that remain from when George lived there, including the bath, sink, some original doors, hanging rails in wardrobes and outbuildings complete with original doors and decor. There is also a large kitchen dresser unit which had originally been kept in the kitchen when George lived there and was later moved to the outbuildings.

The listing also mentions that the successful buyer could apply for a blue plaque, which notes a link between a location and a famous person, from November 2021.
