New Swansea City manager Bob Bradley has vowed to fill the Jack Army with pride as he kicks off his reign at the Liberty.
The American was announced as the club’s new manager on Monday afternoon, with Bradley officially meeting his new players and staff today at the Fairwood training complex.
Bradley will take in his first game next week when the Swans travel to Arsenal.
And the 58-year-old expressed his delight at being handed the opportunity to lead the club, while he also laid out his main objectives.
“I am very proud and honoured to be the manager of Swansea City. It is a club I have incredible respect for,” said Bradley in his first official interview since taking over the Swans.
“We have passionate supporters and I certainly understand what the Jack Army is all about.
“The fans are the lifeblood of every team. I remind players every day that when you step on the pitch that you must always understand all of the people who love the club and come rain or shine stand behind the colours.
“For me, the number one responsibility you have as a manager and as players is to make the fans feel proud.
“The connection between the club and community, and the passion with the supporters is so important.
“I will work hard every single day to make sure we step onto the pitch and remember how much our team means to our supporters.
“I know how much this club means to everybody.
“I will give everything to make sure that we step on that pitch and make the fans proud.
“I want a team that works unselfishly and hard, and is committed to playing football in the right way and winning.
“My job as the leader in all of this is to challenge the players every day to find the right ways to encourage and to be positive.
“We must make sure every time we step on the field we are one, strong team ready to give everything for our supporters.”
Bradley has a wealth of experience around the globe, having managed domestically and internationally in America, while he was also in charge of Egypt’s national side.
Further stints with club sides in Norway and France followed, which helped broaden his horizons.
Now he heads to English football’s top flight, where he becomes the first American to manage in the Premier League.
He added: “The Premier League is absolutely what every manager in the world thinks about and wants to taste.
“I am really excited to come and work in the best league and make sure that every time we step onto the pitch that our football speaks for itself.”
Bradley will address the media on Friday during his first press
conference as Swans boss.
