ARIZONA — Though the Arizona Cardinals don’t have many key free agents, the status of wide receiver Marquise Brown has been worth monitoring as the Oklahoma product looks to hit the open market next week.
After initially being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, the Cardinals acquired Brown on a draft-night trade two years ago. With hopes of forming a dynamic duo with DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona took a massive swing on the wideout position.
Thus far, they’ve missed. Brown – for reasons including injuries, production and just overall status of the team – has failed to emerge in the light former Cardinals GM Steve Keim viewed him in, though that doesn’t mean Arizona’s new regime won’t look to bring him back.
According to NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry, the Cardinals could look to bring Brown back on a one-year deal:
“If Marvin Harrison Jr. is there at 4 when the Cardinals pick, they are absolutely taking him,” one source told Berry. “I was also told don’t be surprised if the Cards bring back Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown on a one-year deal.”
