Even though it’s just his first year in the league, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is already making his case known as one of the NBA’s best players. If Memphis Grizzlies rookie GG Jackson is to be believed, better things are waiting for the French phenom in his future.
During a recent game between San Antonio and the Grizzlies, a contest the latter won with a score of 102-87. Wembanyama led the Spurs by dropping 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks in 30 minutes on the floor. Julian Champagnie added 17 points and three rebounds, while Blake Wesley scored 13 points from the bench.
Still without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies had the trio of Brandon Clarke, Scoty Pippen Jr., and Trey Jamison lead the team with 14 points each. GG Jackson contributed 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 27 minutes on the floor.
Even though San Antonio won the game, they are still at the bottom of the Western Conference with 20 wins and 59 losses. The Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, have a 27-52 record. Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention this year.
After the game, Memphis rookie GG Jackson was asked about his experience playing against Wembanyama. In a tweet by Paul Garcia on X:
