Drake Milligan debuts his latest track, ‘I Got A Problem,’ on ‘America’s Got Talent’
As of Thursday morning, the Mansfield-born singer’s single is No. 3 on iTunes’ country music chart.
Mansfield-born Drake Milligan returned to where his recent singing success started a year earlier.
Milligan was a featured performer Wednesday night on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, debuting his new single, “I Got A Problem.” As of Thursday morning, the song is No. 3 on iTunes’ country music chart.
Last year as a contestant, Milligan finished third in a viewers’ vote, losing out on a $1 million first prize and a headline slot on AGT’s Las Vegas show.
But the payoff was exposure.
“My life has changed really, really fast by being on the show,” Milligan said a year ago. “The response has been amazing. It’s been kind of a whirlwind.”
The two songs he performed on the show last year — “Kiss Goodbye All Night” and “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” — shot to No. 1 on iTunes’ country music chart.
His appearance on last year’s show led to the release of his debut studio album, Dallas/Fort Worth, which rose to No. 1 on the iTunes all-genre chart.
Earlier this month, he performed for the third time in six months at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Fort Worth is a favorite stop on his current tour. He’ll be performing at the Rockin’ the Ranch — Meals on Wheels 50th Anniversary Celebration in Fort Worth on Sept. 30 and at the Birthplace of Western Swing Festival in Fort Worth on Nov. 11. Milligan will also headline New Year’s Eve at Billy Bob’s Texas.
On the AGT stage Wednesday, Milligan wore a white denim jacket with a red bandana and wielded an acoustic guitar in front of his band. His performance drew a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.
“I want to congratulate you for everything you’ve done after the show,” judge Simon Cowell told Milligan. “We’ve always said that you would be a real superstar, and you are.”
