Susanna Reid addresses Good Morning Britain backlash as she’s sent to Germany after saying ‘goodbye’

Susanna Reid seemingly addressed Good Morning Britain viewers’ complaints after she was seen in Germany just days after wrapping up her time on the show for the summer.

The presenter was seen at the helm of the ITV news programme on Wednesday (July 10) alongside Ed Balls when she finished the show by saying her goodbyes to viewers.

As the mid-week episode of the show came to a close, the broadcaster said: “I’m going to say goodbye because it’s now time for me to go off on a break… You never know, I might pop up in the meantime. But otherwise, I’ll see you back in September.”

She went on to reassure a concerned that he was in the “capable hands” of the GMB team, including Charlotte Hawkins who was in the studio bringing viewers the latest news updates. “Do you have to? Can’t you stay a bit?” Ed asked his co-star as she replied: “You will be in the capable hands of the rest of the Good Morning Britain team, including our lovely green highlighter this morning, Charlotte.”

Referring to her own Barbie pink outfit, the 53-year-old added: “The pink highlighters off, I’ll see you in September. Thanks for your company.” She then shouted: “Come on England!” ahead of the football team’s semi-final match in the Euros as Ed said: “Have a good holiday!” before the broadcast cut off and headed to Lorraine Kelly who was presenting her show from Buckingham Palace.

But Susanna made a surprise return to the show on Friday (July 12) after announcing her temporary break. On Thursday night, Susanna revealed that she would be returning to the show to report on the upcoming Euro 2024 final between England and Spain and she’d be live from Berlin.

Taking to Instagram, the 53-year-old reshared a post from the show’s official account announcing the news. Alongside a snap of Susanna, the caption read: “Friday. Susanna from Berlin. Live on Good Morning Britain.” Susanna then shared a selfie taken outside Berlin’s Olympiastadion, where England will face Spain on Sunday night.
