Going to take a second to unpack the weekend of baseball that Oregon and Oregon State just endured …

What was more of a head-scratcher: The most potent Beavers offense in school history mustering just three hits over 18 innings? Or the Ducks’ seventh inning meltdown on Sunday that allowed Texas A&M to put nine runs on the board with just two hits?

Nothing super about these super regionals, unfortunately.

There’s no sugarcoating what happened to the Ducks in College Station. Meltdown city. But put the pitchforks away, would ya? Mark Wasikowski has taken Oregon, with no baseball tradition to speak of, to back-to-back super regionals.

I feel like we’re losing all perspective when it comes to sports. Twice in two years the Ducks sneaked into the postseason and went on to win regionals on the road.

It’s like Jim Murray once wrote: “Nothing is ever so bad it can’t be made worse by firing the coach.”

Should he have pulled Brock Moore earlier in the seventh inning? Easy to say now. But Wasikowski knows what he has in the bullpen and he’s coached throughout the postseason like a guy who simply doesn’t have enough arms.
